CHILDREN
ROOTS & WINGS
We want our children to grow in such a way that they develop roots and wings.
They need roots in the faith that will provide stability for them and wings so that as they grow, they feel the love and confidence that carry them forward.
We pray that our children look around the church and feel that they have big brothers and sisters, lots of aunts and uncles, and grandparents who care about them, support them, and see them as
beloved children of God.
Sunday Morning Details
Each week during worship, children participate in various ways. Sometimes they come up for the Time of Discovery, sometimes they light candles, and sometimes they read scripture or parts of the liturgy.
Up to age 5
Each Sunday during worship | The Joyful Noise Room
During worship for our youngest disciples—up to age 5—we offer Blessed Beginnings, where children play games, make friends, and learn age-appropriate Bible stories with Ms. Jo and Friends. Children are welcome to stay in worship or may leave for the Joyful Noise room before the sermon. If parents want to give their children a break, they can visit our Peaceful Place at the back of the sanctuary, where the service is broadcast.
Ages 5-14
Each Sunday | 10-10:40am
Upstairs Youth Room
Children ages 5-14 gather for SPY KIDS (Second Presbyterian Youth and Kids Investigating Divine Stories). Through fun, interactive stories, games, and snacks, SPY KIDS look for clues and discover God’s presence in the world around them. For more information, contact Ms. Jo at the church office.
